Team building

A team challenge is a project undertaken by a group of employees in response to a community need. Whilst these projects tend to be physical (painting & decorating, gardening etc.) they could also involve running an event, organising an outing, or sharing skills.
A broker is experienced in these types of activities and can support you and the commuity organisation in maximising the impact of the day. Whilst brokers often charge, the amount is often offset by the impact of the activity.

Process
Key Steps are:
- Identify the obectives for the activity. For example, do you want to expand your market? Develop communication or leadership skills within your workforce? Identify any possibilities for expansion or innovation in line with the community's demands?
- Identify a community partner with whom to work. Take into account their needs and seek to match these with your business priorities. For example, could your employees learn from their expertise? Do they provide access to a new audience? Would you be able to work with them in the longer time?
- Decide your budget for materials and determine how much staff time and resource you are prepared to or able to dedicate to the activity.
- Brief your Team Leader and arrange a site visit to scope the activity.
- Check insurance cover and draw up a Risk Assessment of the task.
- Plan the day and involve the Team - and the community, if possible, in this task.
- Feedback to stakeholders to capture the impact of your acheivement and follow up any opportunities that it has presented.
